Where is Lantzville?

Lantzville is a small community on the eastern coast of Vancouver Island just north of Nanaimo and south of Parksville and Nanoose Bay. Officially incorporated as the District of Lantzville in 2003, there are now over 3,800 people calling it home. Given its proximity to the “harbour city,” Nanaimo, Lantzville is connected to a comprehensive transportation network including an airport, three ferry terminals, seaplanes, a highway system, and a public transit system. Residents of this area enjoy scenic beaches, parks, and small town vibes. At the same time, city amenities are mere minutes away.

What's there to do when living in Lantzville?

Lantzville has a 4.5 km long waterfront with stunning ocean views set against the backdrop of coastal mountains. Enjoy a calming moment at Huddlestone Beach, go tide pooling at Blueback Beach, or play fetch your four-legged friend at Invermere Beach’s off-leash dog area.

Other outdoor activities include golfing at Winchelsea View Golf Course, and hiking or mountain biking at Copley Ridge. There are also several neighbourhood parks to explore including Copley Park, Huddlestone Park, Rotary Park, and Sebastion Park. Each year, Minetown Days celebrates the local community with live music, games, food trucks, and other family-friendly activities.

Being so close to Nanaimo, it’s easy to take advantage of the arts and culture in the city, go shopping at Woodgrove Mall, catch a movie at the cinema, or indulge in diverse dining experiences. Within Lantzville’s village centre, you’ll also find Camas, a casual fine-dining restaurant creating culinary delights with locally sourced ingredients, and Katerina’s West Coast Tavern, a family-operated restaurant serving mouth-watering Mediterranean food for over 35 years.

What properties can you find in Lantzville?

Lantzville can be separated into Upper Lantzville on the slope above the Island Highway and Lower Lantzville nestled between the highway and the sea.

In the early days of this community, summer cottages dotted the coastline and over the years, developments expanded up the slope. Waterfront properties, whether an older farmhouse or a modern luxury home, often have large yards that extend to the shoreline.

The Foothills is a new development community sitting high in Upper Lantzville. In total, 814 single-family homes, low-rise apartment buildings, townhomes, duplexes, and secondary suites will offer modern living in a rural setting.

Between the original homes and the newest developments are quiet suburban neighbourhoods where residents enjoy their individual space but also the community-minded nature of a village town.
